Welcome to Bexhill Choral Society!
We are a friendly, enthusiastic, non-audition choral society in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex.
We currently have over 50 members and warmly welcome new singers. Under our Director of Music, Kenneth Roberts, we perform 3 concerts during the year, featuring a wide range of choral music.
We also organise social events and have a thriving support group of Friends.
Rehearsals – Because of the current health situation, the Society is unable to hold in-person rehearsals until further notice. We continue to enjoy weekly Zoom rehearsals.
Christmas Concert on YouTube.
To listen to a small selection of Christmas music and carols from our Christmas 2019 concert follow the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ovx3bvqJi8 or search for Bexhill Choral Christmas on YouTube. The concert was accompanied by the Cinque Ports Brass and this selection includes the sparkling ‘Caribbean Christmas’, conductor Kenneth Robert’s rearrangement of familiar carols for brass.
Even Scrooge would have warmed to Christmas with this presentation. It was different and fun. Conductor Ken Roberts put together a splendidly varied programme…a delightful entertaining ‘Christmas evening” Lark Reviews, December 2019
Our May 2021 Great Choral Classics concert has been rescheduled to Saturday, 7 May 2022, at the De La Warr Pavilion. Tickets previously purchased will still be valid for the new date, with no exchange necessary. The De La Warr website will be updated in due course, but for more information on tickets please see www.dlwp.com/event/bexhill-choral-society/
For many years, we have been honoured to have Brian Kentfield, who sadly passed away on 27 March 2020, as our President. Brian has been a hugely respected and very popular community ‘champion’ in so many different roles and BCS has always had his enthusiastic interest and support. He and his wife Susan attended all our concerts and loved meeting both choir and audience. His dedication to and appreciation of our work with our Director of Music, Kenneth Roberts, was very evident on these occasions.
The Society is affiliated to ‘Making Music’ (formerly the National Federation of Music Societies) and is a registered charity (number 285555).
