Welcome to Bexhill Choral Society!
We are a friendly, enthusiastic, non-audition choral society in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex.
We currently have over 50 members and warmly welcome new singers. Under our Director of Music, Kenneth Roberts, we perform 3 concerts during the year, featuring a wide range of choral music.
We also organise social events and have a thriving support group of Friends.
Please see our Future Events page for more information on upcoming events, and how to buy tickets.
After a highly successful May concert of modern choral music, our next concert on Saturday 5th October 2019 will feature an exciting combination of pieces by well-known classical composers. Beethoven’s beautiful and heartfelt Mass in C is less well-known than the larger Missa Solemnis, but nevertheless illustrates Beethoven’s originality and genius, combining classical formal elements with romantic expressivity. Mendelssohn’s Hear My Prayer is one of his most popular and well-known works, containing the famous solo O for the Wings of a Dove, while Schubert’s Stabat Mater in G minor (D 175) is a small gem which deserves to be more widely known. See our Future Events page for more information.
We will be holding an Open Singing Morning on Saturday 2nd November 2019, giving singers, including those with little or no experience of choral classics, the chance to have a go at the famous opening chorus ‘O Fortuna’ from Orff’s Carmina Burana and another classic chorus. See our Future Events page for more information.
‘The choir has an excellent history of well-focused performances’ (Lark Reviews)
